| About the Author:
Samuel DuBois Cook was a classmate
of
Martin Luther King Jr. at Morehouse
College. He obtained his Ph.D. in political science from
Ohio State University, where he was
a member of
Phi Beta Kappa. He was the first African
American professor at
Duke University. From 1975-1997,
Cook was president of
Dillard University, where he is now
president emeritus. He was the principal architect of
Dillard's National Center for Black-Jewish Relations. In recognition
of his moral, intellectual and intercultural leadership, President Clinton
appointed
Cook to the
U.S. Holocaust Memorial Council, and he received the
Alfred E. and Genevieve Weil Medallion Award from the
Jewish Chautauqua Society in recognition of his efforts to build
harmonious relationships between all groups of humanity. |
